Playing Dress Up
it was a pleasure trying to meet you
and I thank you
for your patience
standing still while I
dressed you in expectations
even though they were too tight
and didn’t fit just right
I got to see how they might
look upon someone one night
and I thank you
for having mercy and being kind
enough as to not remind
me as I smoothed them from behind
of the fit I’ll never find.
