Tinier than You
(or “The What-a-Meroo”)
Remember,
they’re even tinier than You are.
And always will be.
Like a little “What-a-meroo” that lives camped out
on the outer regions of an earhole.
By his microscopic tiny self
glaring out across the hairy little highway
that transports way too many strangers along it all day long.
Imagine how he would feel
if he knew
just how insignificant this earhole was
compared to the rest of the face.
Then imagine how he would feel
if he knew
how little room this face took up compared to the rest of its body.
If he knew
how little this body mattered in its family.
How insignificant the family was in the neighborhood.
The neighborhood to the city, city to state.
State to country to continent to the world
Galaxy. Universe.
To You.
That’s how tiny they are.
Tinier than You.
Like a little “What-a-meroo” that lives camped out
on the outer regions of an earhole.
Unwilling to face tiny microscopic facts.
Because the Truth hurts
their tiny microscopic hearts
so very much.
